The Washington Wizards are trying to find their footing as they continue to rebuild their roster and made a roster move on Thursday to bolster their roster. It is a familiar face as he has already played 43 games with the franchise in his career and provides a lot of upside as he was a former second-overall pick in the NBA Draft. Let’s take a closer look at who it was the Washington Wizards signed and what it means for the team going forward.

Washington Wizards Sign Marvin Bagley III

The Washington Wizards continue to make moves in an attempt to bolster their roster as ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the team has signed big man Marvin Bagley III to a one-year contract. Bagley was part of the Wizards last season as he played in 19 games before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in February at the NBA Trade Deadline. Bagley is now entering his eighth NBA season after being drafted with the second pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and has averaged 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.6 blocks per game in 22.4 minutes.

This could be a position where Bagley is able to take the next step and be competitive as the roster does not have a lot of expectations heading into the season. With Khris Middleton, Jordan Pool, Malcolm Brogdon, and Marcus Smart all on the roster, this is a good spot for him to be positioned down low and improve his game. The contract is worth a little more than $3 million as well so if the Washington Wizards want to trade him away at the NBA Trade Deadline this year as well, there is not a massive burden of trying to figure out salaries to match his.

Thi is a chance for Bagley to get in the rotation and step up and prove his value in the league.
