Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was ejected on Friday midway through the fourth quarter against the New York Knicks.

Boston was leading, 119-106, with just over seven minutes remaining in the fourth. Brown was called for a foul late in the shot clock while trying to defend Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley.

The two-time All-Star was animated as he complained about the call made by referee Jason Goldenberg. The latter soon had enough and whistled Brown for a technical foul.

Brown was subbed out given that the blocking foul was his fifth of the contest. But even as he headed toward the bench, Brown continued to jaw at Goldenberg.

The NBC broadcast was still showing a replay of Brown’s reaction to his first technical foul when the Celtics star was tossed via his second tech of the night.

The Celtics were able to overcome the absence of Brown to win, 133-123, over their Atlantic Division rivals.

Brown exited with 17 points and four assists in 27 minutes against the Knicks.
