No one expected Dennis Schroder's heave to go in at the end of the first half. Especially Schroder.

Schroder caught a pass from LeBron James with time running out and threw up a shot. Seemingly disinterested in the outcome, the Lakers guard turned his back on the basket, only for the shot to bank in and cut the Knicks' halftime lead to one point.
It was surprising that Schroder's prayer went in, especially since so few of L.A.'s three-point attempts went in during the first half. They'd made only two triples before that shot. Even for the team that has made the least threes in the league, that's a low number.
Schroder has made 33.3 percent of his three-pointers this season, almost exactly the team average. On three-pointers where he casually flings the ball at the hoop and turns away in disgust, Schroder is shooting 100 percent.
Maybe the Lakers didn't need to trade for Rui Hachimura to improve their outside shooting. Maybe they needs to act like they don't even care if their shots go in. It can't be much worse than what they're already trying.
