Watch: Draymond Green gets strange first ejection of the season

Officials reviewed Donovan Mitchell’s shove of Draymond Green for a flagrant foul. They ended up ejecting Green.

In the third quarter of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 118-110 win over the Golden State Warriors, Green bumped Mitchell without the officials calling a foul, Caris Levert made a layup.

On the other end, Mitchell ran up and shoved Green back, causing a confrontation and sparking a replay review.

Instead of Mitchell getting additional punishment — referees called his push a common foul — Green got a technical, his second of the game. That gave him his first ejection of the season, and his third technical foul.

Green reacted with his usual exuberant energy after the disqualification, clapping and egging on the crowd as if to desperately declare “I’m not mad!”

Meanwhile Mitchell got the perfect revenge. He got to shove Green back, and Green was the one who got ejected.

Green ended up playing only 17 minutes in the loss, while Mitchell finished with 21 points in 36 minutes. It’s the Warriors’ second straight loss at home, and the second game where the referees highly influenced the result.

What can they do? For one, stop shoving people. Or this team is going to be ejected from the group of title contenders.
