Watch: Javale McGee talks basketball and family in latest episode of "Double Duty"

The McGee family is no stranger to basketball. Now, Javale McGee is passing the family's competitive drive onto his daughter in the latest episode of the Whistle's "Double Duty."

Pamela McGee is Javale McGee's mom. During her pro basketball career, she won back-to-back NCAA Championships at the University of Southern California and an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in the 1984 Summer Olympics. Her accolades were good enough to secure admittance into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. After a successful career in the league, Pamela was ready to pass everything she learned onto her son, Javale.

Javale McGee was one of the best backup centers in the NBA over the past decade. A team-orientated role player who gets buckets and boards on a nightly basis, McGee had the perfect recipe for a long career in the NBA. McGee is a three-time NBA champion (two with Golden State, one with the LA Lakers) and won a gold medal during the 2020 Olympics, a distinction he shares with his mom.

Javale McGee says his mom always made sure he was at the right school for his basketball career and made sure he had everything he needed to succeed. Javale plans to pass along this knowledge as he mentors his daughter Genevieve in the same way his mom tutored him. The McGee lineage is strong, so we should expect this little girl to blossom into a player.
