Watch: Klay Thompson misses a buzzer-beater in Dallas

The Warriors got exactly the shot they wanted Tuesday night. Klay Thompson just missed.

Golden State needed a three-pointer down 116-113 with seconds remaining. Steve Kerr drew up a perfect play, with Steph Curry and Jordan Poole both screening for Thompson, and sprung the man with the 15th-most three-pointers in NBA history. Captain Klay was wide open, but the shot was no good.

It was a difficult night overall for Thompson, who scored just five points in a game where the Warriors overcame a 17-point first quarter deficit. Not only Golden State lose, but Thompson had to send the game to overtime on TNT, where Charles Barkley would have to talk about his heroics.

A month ago, Barkley said Thompson was "not the same guy" as he was before the injuries that cost him two-and-a-half seasons. Thompson said Barkley's criticism stung him. "It just hurt my heart hearing that. But you know what? I’m gonna internalize it and it’s gonna be fuel for me to be even better."

Thompson proceeded to up his scoring to 19.3 points per game in November, and shoot 43.4 percent from three-point range. Perhaps he was pressing too much due to Barkley's "fuel."

For his part, Barkley told Taylor Rooks that Thompson "100% overreacted" to his comments, and said he was "still a heck of a player."

Thompson has shown flashes of the old Klay recently, making 10 of 13 threes against the Rockets ten days ago. Unfortunately for the Warriors, he wasn't the same guy last night.
