The Orlando Magic didn’t expect to have Tristan da Silva closing games when they drafted him in the first round. They especially didn’t expect him to be leading the team to wins over the Boston Celtics.

The Magic’s rookie forward sank a three-pointer in the final seconds to clinch Orlando’s 108-104 win Monday night. He scored a team-high 18 points, going 4-of-8 on three-pointers.
Thanks to injuries, da Silva, the No. 18 pick in June’s draft, has started 20 games for Orlando this season. He’s averaging 8.3 points per game but came through in a big way against the Celtics.
Missing Paolo Banchero, plus Franz and Moe Wagner, the Magic needed contributions from players like Trevelin Queen, who scored 17 points after scoring 10 in all of the 2024-25 season. Goga Bitadze had nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks before a late ejection.

But the biggest factor in the Magic pulling the upset was three-point shooting. Going into Monday’s game, Boston was averaging 18.7 three-pointers on 51 attempts per game. On Monday, it attempted only 33 threes, making just eight.
That’s what the game came down to. Boston couldn’t make three-pointers all game, while Orlando’s rookie made one at the game’s biggest moment.
