Whoever doesn’t know Michael Jordan’s legacy and prowess is probably sleeping under a rock. But there’s a stint that has collected some dust by now.

After a glorious NBA career, a retired Jordan traded the hardwood for a professional baseball field in 1994. But Scottie Pippen just had to dim his own “great defender” title. He brought in Jordan for a charity game in September 1994.

It was mainly to sell tickets, and MJ joined to help Pippen out. However, there was a tweak. The 31-year-old had to play against the Chicago Bulls, and also an All-Star team that Pippen stacked against him. But, only to fail.

At one point, the game turned into a 1v1 between Pippen and MJ. And even with a body trained for Baseball, the NBA icon racked up 52 points, shooting 24-of-46 from the field. Ultimately, Pippen’s Red Team went home with a 187-150 loss.

This event recorded a sold-out audience of 18,671 attendees. And it also raised over $150,000 for underprivileged children in Chicago. After the game, MJ knelt and kissed the Bulls’ logo in the arena as a tribute.

This was yet another milestone that highlighted MJ’s already overpowering impact on the sport. And looking back at it, John Starks could recall some of his own experience of the day.

John Starks Recalled Some Event Highlights

The former New York Knicks star played against Jordan multiple times. But that day, he shared the floor with MJ, wearing the same jersey. And when he ran the day through his own lens, Starks felt grateful to be on MJ’s team.

“I’m on Michael’s team, which I was thankful for that, I’m playing on his team,” he said via SportsBioCorner. “And Scottie called himself stacking the team against him. He said before he went out ‘Just give me the ball and move out the way.’”

“He lit Scottie up for like 55, 60 points”, Starks added. “He’s been playing baseball, he stepped out on the court, and he told Scottie, ‘Don’t you ever stack the team against me again.”

There was no flipping the table on Michael Jordan, and that day, Scottie Pippen learned this the hard way. Do you think he felt grateful afterwards to be on the same team as MJ in his career? Comment it down.
