'We haven’t seen nothing like that!' Zion Williamson heaps praise for French phenom Victor Wembanyama
Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

If there is a redemptive arc that looks like it’s on the brewing – it is that of Zion Williamson . Since his diet and weight issues, Zion hasn’t had the best start to his NBA career. Touted as one of the best talents to have entered the league, the expectations haven’t really been fulfilled. But now, the power forward has shown glimpses of what he can do. And there is another rookie, who is on his cloud-9 form, who Zion feels is simply a special player.

In a recent game between the San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans, it was the match-up between the new kid in town and the forgotten rookie. And they both delivered. But the win came for the Pelicans, who now have 28 victories in the league, gaining more confidence with every passing week. But if there was one player who got his deserved flowers, it was Victor Wembanyama, this time from none other than Zion himself.

After their win, Zion took to the postgame interview, revealing how special of a player he thinks Wemby is. He said:

He can get DPOYs and MVPs. We haven’t seen nothing like that… he’s an amazing player. Especially with Pop over there, he’s gonna continue to develop.

It was a game of 4 quarters, with each second adding more to the excitement. But in the end, it was the Pelicans who got a 114-113 win. For Zion, it was his best scoring night since December 11, providing 33 points in their victory. But all praise, from his side, went to the French Phenom who was once again unplayable.

Zion Williamson and the Pelicans Edge Past Spurs

San Antonio Spurs hosted the New York Pelicans in their latest matchup and it didn’t disappoint the neutral fans. Action-packed from the beginning to the very end, the AT&T Center was filled with excitement. The game looked like it could have gone either way. But thanks to Zion Williamson and his late winner, it was the Pelicans who edged a 114-113 win over the Spurs.

Zion Williamson was on fire scoring 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. It was one of his best performances this season given the issues he has faced in recent months . As for the San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, he had yet another stellar performance, securing 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists – edging ever closer to that Rookie of the Year trophy. But in the context of the game, it was not enough to give them a win.

Zion Williamson’s outstanding performance propelled the New Orleans Pelicans to a thrilling triumph over the San Antonio Spurs, showcasing how he is still unplayable on his day. And with the slow rise in form, better days look on the horizon, for the Pelicans.
