Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James gave a supportive shoutout to NFL legend Randy Moss, who returned to the NFL broadcast scene after a battle with cancer.
Ahead of the big game, Randy Moss returned as part of the team of hosts and broadcasters who previewed the Super Bowl LIX.
“Guys it’s been hard, but I got a lot of love and a lot of people believing in me,” Moss said. “I’m happy to be here.”

Moss got support not only from fellow athletes from the NFL but from other leagues as well. One of the big names who showed support for him was NBA veteran LeBron James.
A six-time Pro Bowl pick and a four-time first-team All-Pro, Randy Moss was known as a wide receiver with incredible speed, leaping ability, and his ability to make catches in tight coverage. His impact on the game was so significant that the term “mossed” has become a common term in football. After retiring from the NFL in 2012, Randy Moss transitioned into a successful broadcasting career. Moss was known for his candid and entertaining analysis, quickly becoming a fan favorite in the broadcast booth.
In recent years, Moss faced a health challenge when he was diagnosed with cancer. Moss was diagnosed with bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) in December 2024. He underwent a complex surgical procedure called the Whipple procedure to remove the cancerous mass. Following the surgery, he committed to additional treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Aside from LeBron James, other athletes and sports personalities also showed their greeting and support for the NFL legend, including Kevin Garnett and Tom Brady, among others.
Unbeknownst to some, LeBron James played high school football for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, during his sophomore and junior years. When asked about who he would compare his high school playing style to, LeBron picked Randy Moss.
“I would say, I resembled kinda Randy Moss,” he said. “His ability to be his height, but be able to run past anybody with that speed. And still be able to catch passes in the paint as well, or in the interior as they call it in football. In between the lines.”

“I’d say Randy Moss because of our strides and our ability to catch the ball.”
During his high school football time, LeBron James caught 57 passes for 1,160 yards and 16 touchdowns. He had 103 catches for 2,065 yards and 23 touchdowns.
