Wendell Moore Jr. Signing With Virtus Bologna

Moore, 24, was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2022 draft and spent two years in Minnesota before being dealt to the Pistons during the 2024 offseason. He was waived by Detroit in February 2025, finished that season on a two-way contract with Charlotte, then returned to the Pistons last November, spending most of the 2025/26 campaign on a two-way deal with Detroit.

A 6’5″ shooting guard with a 7’0″ wingspan, Moore was valued coming out of Duke for his defensive versatility and slashing ability, but his offensive game never really developed enough at the NBA level to earn him regular rotation minutes. In 96 total appearances for three teams, he averaged just 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per night, with a .464/.246/.828 shooting line.

Moore did show more offensive upside in the G League, averaging 19.6 points per game on .509/.388/.808 shooting in 34 contests last season for the Maine Celtics and Motor City Cruise. However, with no two-way eligibility remaining, he would have had to earn a standard roster spot to stick with an NBA team this fall. Instead, he’ll head to the EuroLeague for the first time.

Moore’s new team, Virtus Bologna, posted just a 14-24 record in EuroLeague play last season, but finished first in the regular season of Italy’s top domestic league (Lega Basket Serie A) with a 23-5 mark. The club was upset in the semifinals of the LBA playoffs by Reyer Venezia.

Moore is the third NBA veteran to sign with Virtus Bologna so far this offseason. The Italian team has also added forwards Bobi Klintman and Kessler Edwards.
