Chris Finch lamented the team’s missed opportunities during their 120-115 home loss against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday evening. The Minnesota Timberwolves head coach particularly pointed out their poor defense down the stretch.

“Our ability to contain drives right now is really hurting us, discipline on the close outs, over-helping in places we didn’t want to over-help in, and our readiness to contain the next drive,” Finch told Andrew Dukowitz of Zone Coverage.

“(It’s about) getting back to playing defense, we have no defensive personality right now. We’ve got to get back to winning the point of attack,” he added. “Yeah, I mean, we’re in desperate need for a shot in the arm from there.”

After Jaden McDaniels gave the Minnesota Timberwolves a four-point lead with 1:17 left, the Chicago Bulls scored nine unanswered points to steal the victory on the road, as the hosts committed two costly turnovers in the final minute.

Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards takes accountability for the team’s late-game collapse

Anthony Edwards doubled down on Chris Finch’s plea to tighten up their defense during the postgame interview. Last night, Edwards was in foul trouble, and the Minnesota Timberwolves star gave up the late Coby White triple that sparked the Chicago Bulls’ final run.

“I think (Finch) he’s right, if I play halfway like myself tonight we win the game, so I don’t really blame nobody but myself… I just got to play better in the game,” Edwards said. “Josh Giddey made a good pass. I wasn’t expecting that pass. I reacted. Bones said it was like I was stuck in quicksand, and when he caught the ball, it felt like it. I couldn’t really get a contest. I’m going to get cussed out for that one.”

Edwards finished the night with 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists on 9-for-25 shooting from the field across 35 minutes of action.
