Los Angeles Clippers president Lawrence Frank said that the team is far from done retooling after acquiring John Collins in a three-team trade with the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz.
Before making the trade, the Los Angeles Clippers mostly stood pat this summer, as they only signed James Harden , Nicolas Batum, and Brook Lopez to separate two-year contracts. As of this writing, they have two open roster spots.
“We’re not done. We’re going to continue to look for— We addressed some needs, there are other needs we have to address, and we’ll continue to work through it,” Frank said via ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been linked to a potential move with Bradley Beal and Chris Paul. Beal is reportedly expected to be bought out by the Phoenix Suns, while Paul is keen on staying in Los Angeles to be nearer to his family.
Los Angeles Clippers president Lawrence Frank was satisfied with the acquisition of John Collins since he undoubtedly adds to their frontcourt depth. Collins is coming off a productive 2024-25 campaign, averaging 18.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 53/40/85 shooting clips across 40 regular season games.
“This was an opportunity to address a position and a skillset that we felt needed reinforcement. John is a power forward in his prime with great athleticism who can also play small-ball 5,” Frank said about Collins in a statement.
“He scores at all three levels, excelling in space and transition, as a runner, roller and vertical threat. He stretches the court with his shooting and helps win the possession battle with his rebounding. We’re excited to add John to the group,” he added.
