Jason Kidd isn’t going anywhere. The Mavericks announced a multiyear contract extension for their head coach, as first reported by Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
“I’m grateful for the belief that Patrick Dumont and Nico Harrison have in me, and the trust we’ve built while working together to construct a team that Dallas can be proud of,” Kidd said in a statement shared by The Dallas Morning News. “We have a great group of players who love basketball, are talented and coachable.
“There’s mutual respect across all departments, and Patrick and Nico set the tone for what we’re trying to accomplish here. It’s even more special that I can continue to coach the team that drafted me and where I was able to win a title as a player.”
Kidd, 52, has led the Mavs since 2021 after previous stops in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. He helped guide Dallas to the 2024 NBA Finals and will now oversee the development of top pick Cooper Flagg.
Sacramento exercised the third-year option on guard Devin Carter, the team announced.
Carter, the 13th overall pick in 2024, will make $5.16 million in 2026–27. The Kings had until the end of the month to pick up the option.
Carter averaged 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in limited minutes last season after missing time with shoulder surgery.
The Providence product was even included in trade talks with Golden State this summer before the deal fell apart.
Utah’s camp roster shuffle continued with the addition of forward Pedro Bradshaw and guard Sean East II, per team release.
The Jazz opened up spots by waiving Max Abmas and Cameron McGriff.
Bradshaw, a 6-foot-7 forward, spent last season overseas after averaging 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in Australia.
East, meanwhile, was a standout scorer in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, putting up 23.3 points per game.
Both players are expected to end up with the G League’s Salt Lake City Stars, where they can earn up to $85,300 in Exhibit 10 bonuses if they stick for 60 days.
