West Notes: Warriors, Steph Curry, Clippers, Mavs

Warriors

Star guard Steph Curry indicated he regretted throwing his mouthpiece in Wednesday’s win over the Grizzlies, leading to his ejection.

“It was a crucial time in the game, and the way that our season has gone, questions about a heightened sense of urgency … when you want something really bad … I reacted in a way that put myself out of the game and put the team in a tough place,” Curry said, via Kendra Andrews of ESPN.

Nonetheless, the Warriors were able to escape with the victory.

“We needed this win in a desperate way,” Curry said. “Not just because it was Memphis and all of the narratives there, but it is just how we are playing. … To see the guys bounce back the way that they did and finish the job, there were a lot of celebrations in the tunnel.”

• Curry has reached 21,000 career points. Interestingly, he committed two fouls just 59 seconds into the game.

Clippers

• The Clippers are actively seeking an upgrade over Reggie Jackson at point guard, as well as a backup center to relieve Ivica Zubac, per Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.
• They have been linked to Jazz point guard Mike Conley, and are also said to be willing to part with John Wall.
• Guard Luke Kennard was getting up shots at shootaround and appears on track to return Thursday vs. the Spurs after missing the past nine games, per Andrew Greif of the LA Times. Kennard has been sidelined with a calf injury.

Mavericks

• Center Mo Bamba has fallen out of favor with the Magic, it seems, and Dalton Trigg of SI.com examines whether the Mavericks should pursue a trade. (Full post.)
