Dillon Brooks found himself on the receiving end of a technical foul – but this time, he wasn’t even on the court.

The Phoenix Suns’ dreadful start to the NBA season continued last night, as they lost to the Golden State Warriors.

The Suns have had some major changes coming into the new season, including moving on from former All-Stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.

With a more youthful approach being implemented, veteran stars like Dillon Brooks are being relied on by Jordan Ott and the rest of the Suns’ coaching staff.

But Brooks has a tendency to get himself in trouble. And last night, Brooks set a bad example by getting a technical foul, despite being in street clothes on the bench.

Dillon Brooks forced to apologize to Phoenix Suns locker room for technical foul

During last night’s Phoenix Suns game, Dillon Brooks earned a technical foul while sitting on the bench for chirping at the referees.

Brooks’ actions seemed to disrupt the Suns’ momentum late in the fourth quarter, as the team had fought back to make it a 10-point game.

Devin Booker spoke to reporters after the game and revealed that Brooks had to apologize for his selfish actions to the rest of the team.

“Just in general, any 4th quarter techs, whether you’re playing or not, you should just try to stay away from. He addressed the team. Said it was selfish. We move forward.”

Phoenix Suns need players like Dillon Brooks to set the culture, not disrupt it

Players like Dillon Brooks can be very divisive in the NBA. If they are on your team, they become fan-favorite players who do all the dirty work and carry the spirit of the team.

For rival fans and players, they are disruptive pests who specialize more in generating conflict than they do putting up big numbers.

A player like Dillon Brooks is important for the Phoenix Suns as they enter a new era. He will be a key part of establishing the culture that the team wants to commit to.

Suns owner Mat Ishbia wants a new culture after the super-team experiment failed. But the Suns cannot afford to have players like Brooks be disruptors to their own roster’s performances on the court.
