‘What The Hali:’ Indiana Pacers Comeback To Take Game 1
Imagn Images

The NBA Finals tipped off Thursday in Oklahoma City between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. It was an offensive struggle for the Indiana Pacers in the first half with 19 turnovers. This historic defense was suffocating the Pacers last night with no player able to get into rhythm. The blue and gold would be down by eight with 3:24 left in regulation but would storm back with Ha Tyrese Halliburton hitting a pull-up jump shot from 21 feet out to put them in front 111-110. You might ask what the “Hali” happened.

The Pacers’ Not Gonna Lose Mentality

The Pacers always believe they will when the game and that is exactly what they did in game one in the largest comeback in the NBA Finals in the last 50 years. The first half was horrible for the Pacers turning the ball over 19 times. The good thing is that the Thunder didn’t convert those turnovers into points only getting 9 points off them.

The blue and gold also did a hell of a job getting back in transition defense after those turnovers making it very hard for the Thunder to convert. The blue and gold also had six players in double figures showing the proof even more of how deep this roster is. The last stat from this historic loss on Thursday was that the record for teams trailing by nine points or more in the last three minutes of an NBA Finals had been 0-182 until the blue and gold changed that Thursday night.

Final Thoughts

The NBA Finals will continue on Sunday with Game 2 tipping off at 8 PM on ABC. The Pacers have now won Game 1 in each of their last three series they have played. The blue and gold also showed off their defensive skills last night not allowing the Thunder to make a shot in the last four minutes of regulation. The Thunder gave the Pacers their best shot and they took it. Stay tuned to Total Apex Sports for everything you need to know after every game of the NBA Finals.
