The NBA Cup quarterfinals began on Tuesday. However, the New York Knicks' journey to the quarterfinals starts on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden. Despite the Knicks' fourth-placed Eastern Conference standings, oddsmakers favor their chances in the NBA Cup.

Utilizing Bet365's odds, the Knicks rank second in favorites to win the NBA Cup.

Who is first?

The No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder, has the best odds at +280 to win the NBA Cup. Conversely, the Knicks lead the Eastern Conference at +300.

Although the Hawks have a recent history of beating the Knicks and dethroning them in the 2021 playoffs, the Jalen Brunson-led squad is on a hot streak. Winners of seven of their last ten games, the Knicks have the health and momentum, relative to their Eastern Conference counterparts, to beat the competition.

The tale of why the Knicks should beat the Hawks rests in Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns' All-NBA production.

Over the aforementioned 10-game stretch, Brunson averaged 26 points on 54 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line. Furthermore, Brunson's knack for finding his teammates speaks to their chemistry, as alluded to in his 8.7 assists per game.

Meanwhile, Towns' emergence in the Knicks lineup as a sneaky MVP candidate provides the Tom Thibodeau-coached team with a formidable scoring threat and floor-opener.

Towns averaged 23.6 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per contest in the 10-game stretch.

Using DraftKings, the Knicks are seven-point favorites to beat the Hawks on Tuesday.
