Giannis Antetokounmpo looks to be going through a rough patch at the moment. As the Milwaukee Bucks haven’t been playing up to the mark, rumors about the big man opting for a trade are becoming more and louder. With several franchises showing significant interest in acquiring Antetokounmpo, the Miami Heat wants to continue its pursuit.
However, at the moment, all of that has taken a backseat. Suffering a calf strain, the 31-year-old star is unable to take to the court at the moment. And while fans expected him to make a quick recovery, Antetokounmpo will miss the All-Star Game. In his absence, officials have named De’Aaron Fox as his substitute.
“San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game (Sunday, 2/15, 5pm/et, NBC & Peacock). Fox will join USA Stripes, while Miami Heat guard Norman Powell, who has ties to Jamaica, will move from USA Stripes to Team World,” read a report from the NBA on X.

This is undoubtedly a big opportunity for Fox. While it is true that he needs to step into some big shoes, if Fox can play well, this might be his big break. Meanwhile, as the speculations continue, the president of the Timberwolves shared an interesting update about the Bucks’ star.
During the trade window, new speculation surfaced almost every day. Most of the franchises wanted to rope in Antetokounmpo. And one among them was the Timberwolves. With a strong possibility of the Bucks’ star switching sides, it ultimately did not happen.
Later, addressing the rumors, Wolves’ president Tim Connelly stated, “ I didn’t know that was a thing (laughs) as I’m talking, I think I broke my toe (he tripped coming up the podium) no one seems concerned (laughs)… I’m not going to comment on any players, but our job always is to get better. We don’t ever want to be static, the last two years have been very successful but it’s ended with 4-1 losses in the Western Conference finals so how do we continue to mature as a team, how do we keep pushing the envelope… so anytime there’s an elite player with out mentioning names we’re going to do our due diligence.”
