Who's the new Allen Iverson? The Answer's answer might surprise you

Allen Iverson has proven over the year that when he has something to say, people should pay attention. His comments have ranged from inspirational to comical to profound, like this doozy:

“A jump shot can get you a shoe deal, a big house, a supermodel, fancy cars, a bunch of yes men, a Swiss bank account. But none of these things can get you a jump shot.”

And, of course, how could we forget his epic rant about practice?

Recently, Iverson appeared on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast where he and Shaq discussed a variety of topics, including the practice comments. When Iverson was asked who in the league best reminds him of himself, his answer was a little surprising.

“Everybody say Ja (Morant).” he said. “But, let me talk about this guy: What the hell is wrong with Luka? I’m talking about his style. It’s kind of like streetball. I don’t want nobody to take this the wrong way…he plays like a Black guy. He got swag. He’s so cool out there. Everything is just slow images, major moves, and a wet ball. I mean, he shoots the blood out of that thing.”

This wasn’t the first time Iverson gushed over Doncic. When talking about him with former players, Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, Iverson seemed to be tongue-tied trying to offer praise. And earlier this year, he told Rachel Nichols that if he could pick any current player to share the backcourt with, it would be Doncic.

“I would want it to be Luka because he's a big point guard,” he said. “I can still play the two, he can guard the two, I guard the one, and I think it'd just be deadly.”

While Doncic may or may not be the new incarnation of Iverson, he surely doesn’t mind the comparison. Like AI was, he’s typically the most dominant player on the floor. Plus, he may have unwittingly offered a tribute: He recently showed up for a game sporting braids.
