During the San Antonio Spurs' Sunday night win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Chris Paul made NBA history, recording his 12,092nd assist, passing Jason Kidd for second-most all-time. The leader, John Stockton, sits at 15,806 and is considered an unbreakable record.

Paul's record-breaking dime came on an inbound pass to Victor Wembanyama, who made a 3-point shot in the second quarter. The Spurs would go on to win 121-116.

After the game, Paul reflected on his career and how the NBA has changed over his 19 years in the league, and admits that a player like Wembanyama is something new to him.

"I think it's been really cool to be a part of his journey," said Paul. "I've had an opportunity to be a part of a lot of great players' journey in my career, and to be here with Vic and to be connected to him in that way has been pretty cool."

Wembanyama missed the last two games with a lower back injury and had to be briefly taken out of the contest against the Pelicans, but was able to return for Paul's big night.

"Vic had been out a few games, he came back just in time!" said Paul.

Wembanyama cited Paul's connection with fellow big man DeAndre Jordan as one of his key memories of watching Paul growing up and being able to help the "Point God" cement his spot in NBA history has been a joy for the 20-year-old phenom.

The Spurs will have all week off, with their next game coming against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
