Wildest basketball play of 2023 may not even come from the NBA after wild EuroLeague play goes viral

While there have been a number of incredible plays through the end of the last NBA season and the start of the current year, each of the best we've witnessed may fall short to a clip that came from the EuroLeague on Tuesday. A video was posted to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague X account, formerly known as Twitter, of a play in the game between Real Madrid and Maccabi Tel Aviv that felt like a glimpse into a Harlem Globetrotters game.

While the game was well out of hand, as Madrid was up 92-65 in the fourth quarter, guard Alberto Abalde threw a pass into Real Madrid center and former NBA big man Vincent Poirier, who immediately tapped it between his legs to guard Sergio Rodriguez, who was cutting behind him toward the hoop. Rodriguez also spent time in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, then proceeded to throw a no-look over the head alley-oop to Poirier, who was already cutting for the lob.

It was an incredible play and, candidly, one of the most impressive showcases of players knowing exactly where their teammates would be. It was also a great heads-up play from Poirier to know Rodriguez was cutting behind him, but also to immediately turn and prepare for the alley-oop.

Poirier spent two seasons in the NBA in 2019-20 and 2020-21, spending the first season with the Boston Celtics and the second with the 76ers.
