Point guard Reece Beekman will fill the Wizards’ open two-way slot, having had his Exhibit 10 contract converted to a two-way deal, the team announced today (via Twitter).

Beekman, 25, appeared in 36 regular season games in 2024/25 for the Warriors and Nets after going undrafted out of Virginia, then spent last season with the Osceola Magic in the G League. In 48 outings for Orlando’s G League affiliate, he registered averages of 10.0 points, 6.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 30.3 minutes per game, with a shooting line of .431/.274/.781.

Beekman wasn’t especially effective for Washington during the preseason, compiling just five points and five assists in 32 minutes while committing seven turnovers. Nonetheless, the team has opted to retain him alongside its other two-way players, Felix Okpara and Jamir Watkins.

The transaction is just one of several moves made on Saturday by the Wizards ahead of the regular season roster deadline. The team also announced (via Twitter) that it has waived guards Trevor Keels and Alondes Williams, along with forward Chris Livingston. Keels, Williams, and Livingston were on Exhibit 10 contracts and are candidates to join the Capital City Go-Go in the G League.

That’s also true of former Gonzaga guard Nolan Hickman, who is being immediately cut after signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Wizards today, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac. Hickman played for the Go-Go last season, averaging 9.4 PPG, 3.0 APG, and 2.0 RPG in 41 games (26.8 MPG).

Today’s Wizards cuts don’t include veteran forward Anthony Gill, who is on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract. That could signal that Gill will make the regular season roster as Washington’s 15th man.
