Two-way Wizards forward Justin Champagnie is getting promoted.

Per Shams Charania of ESPN, Champagnie’s agent Daniel Hazard revealed that the 6’6″ wing is set to ink a four-year, $10M contract with Washington. He will earn $1.8M for the remainder of 2024-25.

Across 40 games for the Wizards this season, the 23-year-old is averaging 7.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 0.9 dimes. He’s also logging a respectable slash line of .504/.376/.674.

With this expected promotion of Champagnie, the Wizards will now have a two-way roster slot opening, leaving only Tristan Vukcevic and Jaylen Martin inked to two-way deals.

The Wizards possess the worst record in the league at 11-48, and can afford to take an extended look at developmental players like Champagnie. This seems like a savvy move for all parties.
