Former Washington Wizards guard John Wall revealed a documentary on his NBA journey is in the works. The five-time All-Star guard, who played nine seasons with the Wizards amidst a 13-year career, will be openly telling his story for the first time. After watching rookie AJ Dybantsa become the first overall pick in this year’s draft, Wall welcomed Dybantsa to Washington D.C., following this week’s draft.

Then, Wall confirmed a documentary on his NBA career is in the works, he said, per Wizards reporter Carita Parks.

“Not yet, but it’s coming,” Wall said. “I got so much stuff to tell that a lot of people don’t know about. Everybody gonna write their own story and have a perception of you, and I want to tell my own story. And if I feel like I want to change certain people’s perception of what they think about me, what better way to do it than to make a documentary?

“It’ll take some time, but I’m working on it, don’t worry about it. It will be worth the wait.”

Wall averaged 19.0 points on 43.3% shooting, 9.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals across his nine seasons with the Wizards from 2010 to 2019.

Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa was selected first overall in this year’s draft, which is one thing he undoubtedly has in common with retired star, John Wall. After the two shared a smile at the Wizards practice facility, Wall gave Dybantsa valuable advice heading into his rookie season, which didn’t have much to do with the game itself, but rather, AJ’s influence.

Wall told Dybantsa to connect with The District, as the top prospect will lead the Wizards to a new era of basketball in 2026-27.

“Really tap into the community, they love you here…. I saw the video of [fans] at the Anthem,” Dybantsa said about his conversation with Wall.

From one first overall pick, John Wall was selected No. 1 in the 2010 draft, to another in Dybantsa, the Wizards watched the former NBA guard pass the torch.
