The Wizards are adding another young guard to the roster, signing Trevor Keels to an Exhibit 10 contract, per Keith Smith of Spotrac.

The move comes one day after the Capital City Go-Go acquired Keels’ returning G League rights from the Sioux Falls Skyforce. That makes the likely plan fairly clear.

Keels can earn a bonus of up to $91,000 if the Wizards waive him before the regular season and he spends at least 60 days with the Go-Go. Washington could also convert his contract into a two-way deal.

The 23-year-old appeared in eight games for the Heat last season. He was considerably more productive in the G League, averaging 18.7 points and shooting 40.2 percent from beyond the arc in 40 games.

Keels also averaged 20.0 points during four Summer League appearances before suffering an MCL sprain.

So while this looks primarily like a move for Capital City, Keels has given the Wizards at least a reason to watch closely.
