Free agent big man Skal Labissiere has agreed to a deal with the Washington Wizards, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes. With 15 players already under guaranteed contracts, Labissiere is expected to join the team on a training camp deal.
The Wizards also reached an agreement earlier Tuesday with guard Alondes Williams. Adding both players will bring Washington’s roster to 20, one short of the offseason maximum.
Labissiere, 29, has appeared in 152 NBA games since being drafted in the first round in 2016. After four years out of the league, he returned last season and played four games with Sacramento. The Kings signed him to a 10-day contract in March when injuries left them thin in the frontcourt.
The 6-foot-10 forward/center spent his first four NBA seasons with Sacramento and Portland, appearing in 148 games from 2016 to 2020.
He has played primarily in the G League since then, including the past two seasons with the Stockton Kings. Last year, he averaged 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 26.8 minutes over 44 games.
Labissiere also suited up for Orlando’s Summer League team in July and previously played a short stint in Puerto Rico. He will now look to use training camp to earn a roster spot or remain with Washington’s G League affiliate.
