Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese recently returned from a seven-game injury absence, as a lingering back issue forced her out of the lineup for more than two weeks. Returning against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, Reese tallied 19 points and seven rebounds, but was limited to just 26 minutes as Chicago looked to keep her workload light.
Seeing her playing time increase on Thursday against the New York Liberty, Reese logged 29 minutes, tallying 21 points and 10 rebounds. However, she remained on a minutes restriction, which is something she is admittedly not a fan of (via Bleacher Report).
Having her minutes restriction lifted for Saturday's game against the Connecticut Sun, Reese responded by making WNBA history.
In 31 minutes of action, the most playing time she has logged since July 29, Reese tallied a double-double against Connecticut with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The double-double was her league-leading 19th of the season, and 45th of her career — the most ever by a second-year player.
"HISTORY IN CHICAGO," the WNBA exclaimed in a post Saturday afternoon. "With this bucket, Angel Reese notches her 45th career double-double — tying Tina Charles (2010–11) for the most ever across a player’s first two WNBA seasons."

Despite playing just 60 career games, Reese ranks 14th among active players in double-doubles (via Basketball Reference's StatHead). To put this into perspective, Reese is the only player in the top-15 with fewer than 180 career games played.
Unfortunately for Reese and the Sky, this historic milestone came in another loss. Chicago has now fallen to 9-27 on the season, which is the league's third-worst record. The organization does not even have the silver lining of its poor record being optimal for draft positioning, because the Minnesota Lynx own Chicago's 2026 first-round pick.
Chicago's abysmal .250 winning percentage is the second-worst in franchise history. Only the 2006 Sky team posted a worst mark, and that came in the team's inaugural season.
In a recent interview with Elle, Reese opened up about this challenging season, emphasizing her goal of winning a WNBA title. While she continues racking up personal milestones, it's that team goal she is after.
"I don’t really care about records—I just want to win a championship," she said. "The two most important goals for me before the end of my career are winning a championship and playing on the Olympic team and winning a gold medal."
