Heat guard Tyler Herro is going to keep popping up in trade talk until the deadline gets here. And the Mavericks are already being thrown into the mix.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report named Herro as a potential Mavericks target. Dallas is 2-6. They are tied with the Pelicans for the worst record in the West. They need offensive juice. They need another shotmaker next to Cooper Flagg. And Favale believes Herro fits that lane.

“Dallas doesn’t have to worry about Herro’s potential redundancies alongside a healthy Kyrie Irving,” Favale wrote. “He is better suited as the secondary creator and has placed in the 75th percentile or better of spot-up three-point efficiency through four of his six seasons, per BBall Index.”

Favale also wrote that Herro can take on bigger creative pockets.

“He has long been one of the more underrated from-scratch shot-makers,” Favale said. “Covering up for Herro defensively will be no sweat. Flagg, Anthony Davis and the Mavs’ overall size are equipped to handle it.”

The catch is money. Dallas is within $1.3 million of the second apron. Miami is within $2 million of the tax.

Favale believes a third team would be needed and Dallas would have to be willing to dangle Max Christie plus future firsts.

Herro is out right now after ankle surgery. He will make $31 million this season and $33 million next season. The All-Star guard averaged 23.9 points last year.

No trade clause. No veto power. So if Miami wants to move him, they can.
