WWE Star Makes Surprise Appearance At Wizards Game

Washington Wizards fans who also happened to be avid WWE fans got a pleasant surprise during their team's home game on Wednesday night. With WWE's Smackdown coming to Capitol DC Arena on Friday, the wrestling company sent one of its biggest stars to promote the event.

LA Knight, the current United States Champion, is one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWE right now. As such, the WWE had the electrifying superstar make a surprise appearance during the Wizards' game against the Indiana Pacers. Knight hyped up the crowd with his infectious energy during timeouts.

Additionally, the arena gave away tickets to the live Smackdown show happening on Friday.

Unfortunately, that energy seemed to evade the Wizards in the fourth quarter. Despite holding a 19-point lead at one point during the game, the Wizards lost to the Pacers 134-130 in overtime. An injury to backup guard Malcolm Brodgon seemed to take away the fire of the Washington team.

Jordan Poole paced the Wizards with 42 huge points while shooting 51.7% from the field, and adding five rebounds and assists. Corey Kispert came off the bench to add 21 points, while Bub Carrington had 18 points.

The Pacers relied on a season-best night from Obi Toppin (31 points, ten rebounds) to get them out of the hole they dug themselves. Indiana's 18-7 run to start the fourth quarter kicked off their furious comeback, with Toppin nailing a massive three-pointer in overtime to finish their comeback bid in style.

The Wizards will remain in DC after the All-Star break to face off against the Milwaukee Bucks on February 21. They are expecting their midseason acquisition Khris Middleton to suit up by then against his former team.
