Rich Paul had some choice words for members in the NBA media space for speculating over LeBron James’ future.

LeBron James’ future has been a topic of great discussion over the last month or so. After the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff elimination, James’ comments about the Lakers’ future planning suggested he wasn’t very happy.

James’ agent, Rich Paul, claimed LeBron understood the Lakers’ prioritizing Luka Doncic. But the star believes the Lakers aren’t setting him up to compete for an NBA championship.

However, Bill Simmons claimed LeBron is upset about being second-fiddle to Doncic on the Lakers. Whatever the case may be, there were many who presumed James would leave the Lakers.

But the 40-year-old star seemed to change his mind, as both James and the Lakers committed to building a contender next season.

Despite this, there are still teams rumored to make a move for him. And Rich Paul had a lot to say about the trade speculation surrounding LeBron James.

Rich Paul says LeBron James enjoying his summer, not fazed by NBA media speculation

Rich Paul spoke in an interview with SiriusXM radio at the NBA Summer League. He told them that LeBron James has tuned out the NBA media and their speculation.

However, Paul and LeBron don’t begrudge members of the media for talking about their future. Instead, they just choose not to clarify or address any of it to the media.

“There are so many voices in today’s game, like media and things like that, and everyone has a job to do.

“For us, let those people do their jobs; it’s not for us to rebut or give clarity on what’s said and what’s not said, that’s not the focus. The focus is, hey man, enjoy your summer.”

“You can’t dispel everything someone has to say, and you’ve been around this team a long time. There’s never been the expectation on anyone like it’s been on him.

“You can’t go out here and try to prove everyone wrong, or wanting to make sure everyone is right. Critique is the critique.

Rich Paul says LeBron focused on getting ready for LA Lakers season

Rich Paul added further that LeBron James’ every move is constantly scrutinized. And while he doesn’t begrudge the media cycle, he pays no mind to it.

“Everyone’s journey is different… I know how hard it is to get to the NBA, I know how hard it is to stay in the NBA.

“I know how hard it is to have consistency while being in the NBA. It’s easy for us to critique sitting behind these microphones.

“But the respect level for all the guys playing, and I know the respect for someone at LeBron’s level, and his tenure, and all the things that he’s accomplished.

“Again, you can’t buy into those things [trade rumors], people are doing their job, so we understand and he understands that. I think ‘How do we do things’ is what my focus is.”

It’s clear that for now, LeBron James is going to stay put and try to make things work with the LA Lakers ahead of a new season.
