San Antonio Spurs shooting guard and rookie Stephon Castle teased teammate and basketball legend Chris Paul, as he added a playful comment on Paul’s Instragram post.

Following their recent milestone victory against the Golden State Warriors, “the point God” Chris Paul posted on his Instagram a photo of himself, with the caption “Keep it goin!! #CantGiveUpNow.”

Stephon Castle posted a comment, calling Paulo “unc,” taking a jab at his old age.

“You nice unc,” Castle said.

As revealed by fellow Spurs Tre Jones, it weas Castle who started teasing Chris Paul with the “unc” nickname. Later on, the nickname caught on and even Harrison Barnes started calling Paul “unc.”

Currently, at more than 39 years old, Chris Paul is one of the oldest active NBA player, in the same age league as other long-time season players such as Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James (the oldest at almost 40-years old), PJ Tucker of the Los Angeles Clippers (turning 40 on May 2025), and Charlotte Hornets forward Taj Gibson (a little younger than Paul at also 39).

By comparison, Stephon Castle, born 2004, is only 20-eyars old and only began his NBA career this season.

Stephon Castle Outplays GSW Steph Curry in Recent Game

The San Antonio Spurs, coming form a 17-point deficit, recovered and even managed to overpower the Golden State Warriors, closing the game with a victory at 104-94. While the victory itself came as a shock to many, what was perhaps considered by a lot of people as the best highlight of the game was how Spurs rookie Stephon Castle managed to go to-to-toe with GSW star player Steph Curry.

Veteran and teammate Chris Paul praised Castle’s performance for the game: “Steph Castle did an amazing job on both ends tonight.”

According to the rookie, he played the game with a sound defense as his main strategy in mind. Judging by how Steph Curry was only able to get one free throw for the entire game, his defense against the shooting machine worked.

Castle, overall, scored 19 points while Curry only did 14 points on 3-10 shooting from behind the arc.

“Coming into the game, my mindset was strictly on defense all night, not really trying to take [Curry] out the game, because I know how hard that is to do,” he said. “Just trying to limit as many shots as I can from him, kind of keep him off the line as much as I can.”
