For the third year in a row, the San Antonio Spurs had a pick in the top five of the first round in the NBA draft. On Wednesday, the Spurs used their No. 2 pick to select the son of former NBA star Ron Harper, Dylan Harper. The promising young guard spent one year playing for Rutgers and declared for the NBA draft after appearing in 29 games.

After drafting the 6-foot-6 guard, the Spurs now have a logjam in the backcourt. Aside from All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox, the team also has Stephon Castle, last year’s No. 4 pick and reigning Rookie of the Year. Still, San Antonio believes that having Harper on the team won’t be a problem for them in the long run.

This makes the Spurs have one of the more interesting rosters in the league. Also, they have All-Star center Victor Wembanyama, who welcomed the newest member of the team on Wednesday.

After the pick was made official, Wemby took the time to call Harper and introduce himself to his new teammate.

“Hey, I play for the Spurs. My name is Vic,” Wemby introduced himself.

“We lit… Hell yeah, we gonna work for sure, man. Enjoy. You should celebrate tonight… Welcome and enjoy.”

Wemby’s formal introduction is nothing new to Spurs fans. He did the same when he welcomed Castle to the team last year, just as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver called his name.

“What’s up bro?” Wembanyama greeted. “It’s Victor.

“Just wanna welcome you, bro. It’s going to be incredible. I’m so happy with what we did. I don’t know how you feel, but I’m super excited to start working… Enjoy your night.”

Victor Wembanyama has started a tradition of welcoming the young draftees into the NBA, and fans love him for it.

Victor Wembanyama admitted to gaining weight since joining the NBA

When Victor Wembanyama first started in the NBA in 2023, he was a lanky prospect that most big men saw as an easy target to bully inside the paint. Since then, however, the big man has focused on taking care of his body and adding weight.

Wemby recently admitted that he’s gradually added more weight since he became an NBA player. He admitted to his physical development on his guest appearance on Kevin Hart’s “Cold as Balls.”

“I gained probably like 30 lbs,” Wembanyama started.

“Strength training, of course, but the main thing for me is I could, in theory, put on a lot of weight, but I would lose some of my mobility. Some of my athleticism. So, it’s something that needs to be done really carefully, and I have a lot of eyes and a lot of minds thinking about me in this instance.”

Some fans believe that gaining weight will help Victor Wembanyama become a dominant force inside the paint. This adds a different dynamic to his game, making him quick, agile and strong.
