Jimmy Butler (Warriors), De'Aaron Fox (Spurs) and Luka Doncic (Lakers) aren't the only stars flourishing with their new teams. Zach LaVine posted a season-high 42 points Monday in the Kings' 130-88 blowout win over the Hornets.
The athletic guard couldn't miss, shooting 8-of-9 from three and 16-of-19 overall, as the Kings ran away with a 20-point lead in the first half. The Hornets fought back in the second half until LaVine took over in the fourth quarter, scoring a ridiculous 18 points in just 5:21 of action.
LaVine was on such a heater that he hit four threes within two minutes before Kings head coach Doug Christie emptied his bench. Amazingly, LaVine outscored the entire Hornets roster in the fourth quarter, 18-16, with his blistering shotmaking.

While LaVine was the showstopper on Monday, his performance wasn't the only piece of history made in Sacramento.
Per Sportradar, the Hornets became the first team since the 1966-67 Pistons to lose by a combined 95 points over their last two games. The Hornets suffered a 53-point loss to the Blazers this past weekend before the 42-point drubbing against the Kings.

The Kings are 4-4 since acquiring LaVine, but the guard has been a net positive (+12) on the court. As a King, LaVine is averaging 23.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 48.9 percent from the field.
With Monday's win, Sacramento (29-28) created more separation from 11th-seeded Phoenix (27-30) in the battle for the final play-in berth. However, the Kings still have a tall task to qualify for the postseason. They have the second-toughest schedule the rest of the way, with at least two clashes against the Cavaliers, Grizzlies and Nuggets and a showdown against the Celtics awaiting them.
