Zion Williamson Achieves Career Milestone In Pelicans-Lakers Game
USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday evening, the New Orleans Pelicans  are in Las Vegas facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers for the In-Season Tournament's final four.

During the game, Zion Williams achieved a career milestone by recording his 500th career assist.

Williamson came into the evening with averages of 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 56.9% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in 18 games.

The Pelicans are the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 12-10 record in their first 22 games.

They are 6-4 over their last ten games and most recently defeated the Sacramento Kings by a score of 127-117.

In 28 minutes of playing time, Williamson had ten points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals while shooting 5/8 from the field.

Williamson was the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons.

That said, when he has been on the floor, the former Duke star has been among the best players in the league (he made the All-Star Game in 2021).

Last season, Williamson played in 29 games and averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 60.8% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range.

The Pelicans were without him for most of the season and lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the play-in tournament.

Whoever wins Thursday's game will advance to the In-Season Tournament Championship and face off against the Indiana Pacers in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.
