Zion Williamson's playful chat about potentially joining the Bulls
USA TODAY Sports

Their early season hardship forced the Chicago Bulls to face overwhelming trade rumors and speculations imposed by various league circles. Given the inconsistencies in most of their main core units and the reported depressing vibes around the team, many have suggested that they must deliver a fire sale and just start from scratch yet again.

But recent footage that involves promising star Zion Williamson has tickled the interest of the Bulls fans about the type of trade that their franchise must execute otherwise.

Zion wants to join the Bulls?

In a viral video clip circulating the NBA internet field for the past few days, Williamson was caught briefly discussing the prospect of joining the Bulls.

The clip was posted and coincided with the team's Saturday victory against the Pelicans. Williamson bumped into what seemed to be a Bulls staffer in the hallway of the United Center and went on to be playful about the said idea.

"Heard you want to come play for us [in the Bulls]," the staffer said to Williamson

"Woah, don't say it out loud," Williamson responded.

Debunked

What the video tries to contextualize is clear as water. But in the end, it's just a mere fantasy, and the recent posting is just a product of disinformation.

The recording was believed to be originally posted back in February 2022 – the season wherein Williamson missed the entire season due to a foot injury. In addition, the original uploader just reposted the clip on TikTok last weekend after the Pelicans-Bulls game, which ultimately twisted the imagination of Chicago fans so that Williamson might perhaps consider landing in Chicago.

It is a pipe dream that the Bulls will be able to snag Williamson via a trade, considering that the star forward is locked in a max contract until 2027-28 and is continuing to enjoy his current season with the Pels. As such, Chicago stays committed to their current exploits and remains focused on flipping their season around.
