While President Donald Trump was addressing U.S troops while onboard the USS George Washington in Japan, he said to the troops that he heard their commanding officer, Captain Timothy Waits, was a big Alabama football fan.

Waits is an Anniston native and graduated from the University of Alabama.

Trump went on to say “Roll Tide” and shared that he loves Alabama. He also reacted to the Crimson Tide’s close victory over South Carolina last weekend.

“That was a hell of a game this week,” Trump said to Waits. “I don’t know how the hell you pull that one out. If you didn’t win, I wouldn’t have mentioned it. I would have just introduced you, but you came back from oblivion. Isn’t nice, coming back?”

Trump has attended a handful of Alabama football games over the years. He’s gone to a home game in each of his terms, visiting Tuscaloosa to watch some Alabama football in person. Last year, he was in town for the Alabama-Georgia game, which was the most watched regular season game of the year.
