After 11 seasons in the NFL, Jordy Nelson announced his retirement Wednesday, less than two weeks after the Raiders released him. Despite Nelson visiting the Seahawks and drawing interest from other teams — including the Patriots and Chiefs — he decided now was the right time to hang 'em up. Nevertheless, Nelson will exit the league as one of this era’s upper-echelon wide receivers.

While the 33-year-old playmaker’s final games came with Oakland — a sneaky-decent season for the veteran — he will obviously be remembered for his 10-year run in Green Bay. Although Aaron Rodgers wants to play several more seasons, it would take Davante Adams quite some time to supplant Nelson as the wideout most linked to the Packers quarterback. The Packers drafted Nelson in the second round in 2008  — a draft that featured no first-round wideouts taken and 10 receivers chosen in Round 2, including DeSean Jackson and Eddie Royal — and he grew into Rodgers’ most trusted target.

Despite not breaking in as a regular starter until 2011, Nelson retires with 72 touchdown receptions. Although he missed the entire 2015 season because of an ACL tear, his 57 TD grabs between 2011-16 still ranked third in the NFL in that span. After the injury, Nelson rebounded for an NFL-leading 14 touchdown receptions in 2016 — a season that featured an eight-game Packers win streak that vaulted them from 4-6 to the NFC championship game. For a stretch there, no wide receiver could match the ex-Kansas State walk-on’s point production. Nelson finished his Packers career in their top five in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Nelson’s signature game was probably Super Bowl XLV. The 2010 Packers had Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and James Jones as their top three receivers. Foreshadowing his impact on future Packers teams, Nelson became Green Bay’s centerpiece threat that night. Rodgers targeted him 15 times, and the results — nine receptions, 140 yards, one of his five career playoff TDs — played a major role in helping the Packers to a 31-25 win over the Steelers.

Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. While Nelson’s one Pro Bowl appearance will likely not merit a Hall of Fame bust, he was one of the best Packers receivers in their near-100-year history. He also is one of just 36 players to pair 8,500-plus receiving yards with at least 70 touchdown receptions. How many other members of this club can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
