In 2018, Saints star wideout Michael Thomas had one of the best statistical seasons for a wide receiver in NFL history, and now he'd like to be rewarded for it. 

Reports initially had Thomas asking for $22 million per season, which would make him the highest-paid receiver in the league by nearly $3 million. That figure would also make him the second-highest-paid non-QB in terms of salary behind only Von Miller. New Orleans did not seem comfortable with that figure, and in recent days Thomas' asking price reportedly has dropped. But clearly the Saints can't risk having Thomas hold out for too long. Drew Brees, who himself is playing at a discount, is 40 years old and is still performing at a high level. But it would be hard to imagine New Orleans having a real shot at playing in Super Bowl LIV if Brees doesn't have his favorite target at his disposal.
