The recent injury to DeMarcus Cousins has the left the new-look Lakers with a hole at the center position. To fill that void, they might turn to an old friend.
It was reported on Sunday that the team could be interested in a reunion with former Laker Dwight Howard, who played for the team for one season after being traded from Orlando. Howard is currently on the Memphis Grizzlies roster, his sixth team is seven seasons since leaving the Magic. But he was acquired as a salary dump and was expected to be bought out some time before the start of the season. Memphis has already granted L.A. permission to speak with Howard to gauge his interest in a return to the West Coast. Howard, to his credit, seems to understand his place in the current small-ball NBA landscape, and the Lakers could offer him a perfect opportunity to rejuvenate what was once a seemingly Hall of Fame career.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. At age 33, Howard's best days are behind him, but it wasn't that long ago that he was a perennial MVP candidate, even finishing as a runner-up during the 2010-11 season. So with that in mind, how many of the players who finished second in the NBA MVP voting in the lottery era can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
