Perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2019 NFL season is the Buffalo Bills. They are 10-4 on the season and have already clinched a playoff berth, with their stellar defense a big reason why. But when they travel to Foxborough to play the Patriots on Saturday, the best defensive player on the field will be on the other sideline. Cornerback Stephon Gilmore went to the Pats in 2017 after spending the first five years of his career in Buffalo. He's been one of the NFL's best at his position in that time, but this year he's been a true shutdown corner and is very much in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year. But don't take our word for it. Ask Gilmore himself. The field is crowded for sure, but the Pats defense has played at a historical level in 2019, so don't be surprised, come awards time, if Gilmore becomes the first Patriots player to win NFL DPOY.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. If Gilmore does win the DPOY Award, he will be just the fifth defensive back this century to take home the trophy, which the AP has awarded to the NFL's most outstanding defender since 1971. So with that in mind, how many of the NFL DPOYs can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
