Congratulations are in order for San Jose Sharks center Patrick Marleau who earlier this week passed Gordie Howe's mark for the most NHL games played all time. Marleau was selected second overall by the Sharks back in 1997 and is currently in his 23rd season in the league. Despite playing more than 400 games in the WHA, Howe's NHL games played record had stood since 1961. The feat may not be enough to put Marleau in the Pro Hockey Hall of Fame, but it does shine a bright light on what has been an incredible career. Amazingly, the 41-year-old has been a fixture in the league for nearly a quarter-century.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. Now that Marleau has the record to himself, it's a good time to see how well you know the players he has passed on his way to the top. So with that in mind, how many of the leaders in career NHL games played can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
