The Houston Astros are the 2022 World Series champions.
Houston outlasted the upstart Philadelphia Phillies, winning the series 4-2. Yordan Alvarez provided the big blast in Game 6, and rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena capped off a remarkable first season by winning both the ALCS and World Series MVP honors. Of course, 73-year-old skipper Dusty Baker finally won the big one. It's title No. 2 for the 'Stros, and unlike in 2017, this one is not shrouded in controversy (Martin Maldonado's illegal bat notwithstanding). Soon enough, Baker and the Astros will have to answer questions about their collective futures, but for now, his squad can just sit back and bask in simply being the best baseball team on the planet.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. Today, we're looking for the last pitcher from the World Series and the last batter from the World Series. How many of each since the year 2000 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
