Down 3-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, the Florida Panthers sure could use a player like Jonathan Marchessault.
Back in 2017, when the Florida front office worked out a trade with the Knights that ensured they'd select Marchessault in the expansion draft, the Panthers likely thought there was a chance he might blossom into a special player, but they probably didn't think the move would come back to bite them in this manner. Marchessault has been electric all postseason and has four goals and seven points through the Final's first four games. If Vegas does lift the Cup in the coming days, he is the current odds-on favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. What seemed at the time would amount to a trade gone wrong now amounts to an all-time blunder of a transaction that the Panthers and their fans will not be able to move on from anytime soon.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. The NHL began awarding the Conn Smythe Trophy to the most valuable player of the postseason beginning in the 1965 season, and it seems likely that it will reside in Sin City for the next year. So with that in mind, how many past winners can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
