Is there a bet to make for the NBA Draft tonight? It's worth looking into, but at surface level, there doesn't appear to be much intrigue near the top of the board. That level of certainty may actually play in our favor in one betting market.
Following the favorites for a plus-money NBA wager
Victor Wembanyama is certain to be taken first by San Antonio, but interestingly it's still an outcome you can bet on at -20000. We are not advocating for a bet on a price like that, but we'd be curious to know if books would seriously take something like a $20,000 wager for someone to pocket a free $1000. There are not many locks, but Wembanyama will be a Spur.
After that, it appears Charlotte has locked in on Brandon Miller at No. 2, priced at -425 to go second, and Scoot Henderson will be taken third, with an identical -425 price.
According to most draft experts and mock drafts, the fourth pick, owned by Houston, is all but certainly going to be Amen Thompson, a SF from the G-League. Thompson is -350 to be taken in this spot.
This is where the potential for a bet starts to form.
The fifth pick is owned by Detroit, which is no stranger to the lottery and looking to add one more piece to an exciting young core. For a while, Cam Whitmore was the favorite to be taken by Detroit, but rumors out of Pistons camp are that they have started to fall in love with Ausar Thompson, the brother to Amen.
These reports are somewhat confirmed by the shifting in price, with Ausar now moving to the -145 favorite to be taken fifth.
What if the market prices are correct, and we trust the chalk with the top five?
DraftKings offers you an opportunity to bet on the exact order of the first five picks, and we're able to get that at plus-money if we follow the favorites. Seems worth a look for a night lacking the unknown near the top of the board.
Betting on Top 5 Exact Order: V. Wembanyama, B. Miller, S. Henderson, Am. Thompson, Au. Thompson (+130 DK)

Three-team trade sees Kristaps Porzingis join Celtics, Marcus Smart go to Grizzlies — The Washington Wizards fire-sale continues, with Kristaps Porzingis being shipped out to the Celtics in a three-team deal. Washington continues to get the short end of the stick in terms of assets, receiving Tyus Jones, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala and a second-round pick. Memphis attached two first-rounders, both going to the Celtics, in order to secure Smart's services. For the Grizzlies, the pros of the deal are clear. This is a young team with deep postseason aspirations, and Smart can be that leader to help guide the team where they want to go. Boston fills one of their bigger needs at the big-man position, and Porzingis should help space the floor. The Celtics have moved to the favorites at +475 to win next year's Finals, while Memphis sits at +2500.
Khris Middleton declines player option, set to be free agent — Bucks SF Khris Middleton has declined his player option to become a free agent, but reports suggest the three-time All-Star may stay to work out a long-term deal with Milwaukee. Still, there's a chance a team swoops in to pry Middleton away, but the Bucks seem motivated to sign him to a new contract.
