Despite a spending spree in the offseason and high hopes coming into the year, the New York Mets find themselves seven games below .500 and in fourth place in the NL East. As we approach the halfway point of the 2023 season, the team's high-priced veterans may be looking for an off-ramp. On Tuesday, rumors began to surface that Max Scherzer might be willing to waive his no-trade clause if it meant an escape from New York. Scherzer is in year two of a three-year deal but has an opt-out at season's end that would allow him to become a free agent. It's unclear at the moment if this is just the three-time Cy Young winner venting some frustration with the state of the ballclub or if this is the start of a teardown in Queens. Either way, this is not what the team's front office was hoping for when it assembled this super-team over the last two offseasons.
Which brings us to to today's quiz of the day. In MLB history, 21 pitchers have won more than one Cy Young Award, including two current Mets aces. So with that in mind, how many can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
