On the day when the Houston Astros brought their old ace back into the fold, their current ace tossed a no-hitter.
Just hours after Justin Verlander was reacquired at the trade deadline, Framber Valdez took the ball against the Cleveland Guardians and needed only 93 pitches to record the first no-hitter of his career. Valdez also faced the minimum 27 batters, issuing one walk that was later nullified by a double play. Everything is coming together at the right time for the defending champs. On top of the no-no and the deal for Verlander, the team also recently activated Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve off of the IL and is the current betting favorite to win the AL West. If they can continue to play at this high a level, we may see the 'Stros raise banner No. 3 at season's end.
Which brings us to today's quiz of the day. In honor of Valdez's performance on Tuesday night, we want to see if you can name the last pitcher to throw a no-hitter for every MLB team. We're looking for solo no-hitters only, not combined no-hitters. Five minutes are on the clock.
Good luck!
