Despite losing Super Bowl LVIII in overtime, the San Francisco 49ers still seem poised to remain legitimate contenders for the foreseeable future. However, they have a big decision to make regarding one of their offensive stars. Brandon Aiyuk is set to play the 2024 season on his fifth-year option, but GM John Lynch would like to sign him to an extension, but that might be easier said than done. “There are some challenges,” Lynch said regarding an Aiyuk extension. "I hope so. I think we’re set up to do [an extension]. It takes putting the whole thing together. And there’s also things we have to plan for going forward. You can’t just be reckless. We never will be.” Trading Aiyuk is also a possibility, but the Niners and their fans are hoping the team's gets the band back together for at least one more season.
