After an offseason of speculation and trade rumors, Dylan Cease has a new home. 

On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres agreed to a five-player deal to send Cease from the South Side to SoCal. Cease was one of the more popular trade targets this winter, having been linked to a few contending teams over the last few months. As we got closer to Opening Day, however, it seemed as if Cease would at least start the season in Chicago. But Gerrit Cole's injury led to renewed interest in the 28-year-old starter, and while the Yankees were figuring out an offer, the Friars swooped in with a four-player package of prospects and pros that was able to push the deal over the finish line. Cease now hopes the move to Petco Park will help him return to form after having a disappointing up-and-down season for the Sox in 2023.
