Masters best bets: X marks the spot

We covered some golf looks in yesterday's edition, but we need a few more Masters bets in the pocket, don't you think? The weather delay pushed the start time back just a bit, and we're highlighting two guys who don't get started until this afternoon. So, you should be able to secure these prices if you like the reads.

Adding some Augusta picks for the next few days

Make sure you're perusing all of your available sportsbooks, as most are offering plenty of promotions, free bets and profit boosts.

Xander Schauffele

  • To win: +1875 on Fanatics with 25% boost
  • Top 10: +130 DraftKings

Xander Schauffele is an interesting case of a guy who has come so close at Augusta. Over the last five years, he's finished T2 and T3, and he was inside the Top 10 last year.

The man has clearly shown that he can handle Augusta and be up to the task for four days. Schauffele is the world's highest-ranked player without a major title. He is so incredibly due to get over the hump, and we like investing in him doing just that this weekend.

Schauffele is playing very good golf right now, with six Top 10 finishes in eight tournaments this year and three Top 5 finishes in his past four.

We'll roll that momentum forward this week at The Masters.

Sahith Theegala

  • To win: +6250 Fanatics with 25% boost
  • Top 10: +350 DraftKings

Theegala is a name you may want to load up a bet or two on. In his Masters debut in 2023, Theegala finished ninth. That's impressive stuff for someone making his first start at Augusta, a situation that typically leads to trouble for most.

Theegala is rolling of late, with three Top 10 finishes in his past five starts, with all three of those tournaments considered to be some of the tougher courses of the season in the Players (T-9th), Arnold Palmer Invitational (T-6) and Phoenix Open (5th).

Theegala is putting extremely well and should be able to pick up some strokes near the greens, making him one of our favorite long shots of the weekend.

In the news ...

Get some more Masters prep in — The Masters teed off earlier this morning, but there's still plenty of research you can do before round one comes to a close. Looking for three prop bets? Celtics sign Jrue Holiday to contract extension — The Boston Celtics are going all-in with their core for both this season and the next, signing Jrue Holiday to a four-year, $135 million contract extension after acquiring the guard last summer. Boston already has signed Jaylen Brown to a monster contract, Kristaps Porzingis is signed through 2026, and Jayson Tatum is about to sign a supermax extension this summer that should make him one of, if not the highest-paid player in the NBA. Luxury tax be damned, the Celtics want to get over the hump and win. They've secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference and are -170 to reach the Finals and +180 to win it all.

Arizona Coyotes could be moving to Salt Lake City as soon as next season — Reports came out from NHL reporters on Wednesday afternoon that schedules are being drafted to plan for a potential Coyotes relocation to Salt Lake City. Utah has wanted an NHL team, and the Coyotes have been playing in a college arena with no current plans to build a bigger home. Three of the last five NHL franchises to relocate have been the Stars, Avalanche and Hurricanes, all of whom are among the Cup favorites this year. A new home may not be bad news for the Coyotes, but it seems as if Arizona is about to lose its hockey team.

Quick Picks

1 New Orleans Pelicans @ Sacramento Kings

Tonight's NBA schedule doesn't offer us much in the way of motivated teams, but we have that here out West between the Pelicans and Kings. New Orleans is currently sitting in sixth, secured into the first round, but the Kings are just two games back at No. 8, looking to jump out of the play-in tournament. New Orleans has had Sacramento's number, winning four straight matchups this year. We'll opt for another win and load up the Pelicans moneyline at -105.
Thursday, 10:00 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
Pelicans
+1.5 (-116) -105 > 215.5 (-110)
Kings
0 (-110) -110 < 215.5 (-105)
2 Hunter Brown under 4.5 Ks

Houston's Hunter Brown has made two starts this season, logging eight total strikeouts. Today, he faces a Kansas City team that he recorded just four Ks against in a meeting last year. A righty hasn't gone over 4.5 strikeouts in six straight starts against the Royals, and we're not going to bet that changes today. Take Brown's under.

Latest Odds:  -110
3 MJ Melendez over 0.5 hits

We stay in this game and opt to load up a Melendez hit this afternoon. The Royals outfielder has a hit in seven straight games and 10 of 11 on the season. He's also enjoyed plenty of success against Houston, notching a base knock in 11 of his last 14 against them. At these odds, we'll jump on.

Latest Odds:  -145
4 Philadelphia Flyers @ New York Rangers

If the Flyers were going to wake up and snap out of this funk, they would have done it by now. Losers of eight straight, any chance at the postseason is wasting away for Philly. There's a power-play edge at play, always a good sign for Rangers goals, and New York is looking to stave off Carolina and secure the best record in the East. Take New York -1.5 in this one.
Thursday, 7:00 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
Flyers
+1.5 (-130) +180 > 6 (-112)
Rangers
-1.5 (+120) -200 < 6 (-130)
5 Detroit Red Wings @ Pittsburgh Penguins

This is conceivably a playoff game, as we have two teams both sitting at 84 points fighting for the eighth and final seed in the East. When you consider the numbers and the past matchup history, the over is definitely the play. However, we can't help but feel the heightened stakes brings about a tighter game. We like under 6.5 here.
Thursday, 7:00 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
Red Wings
+1.5 (-180) +130 > 6 (-121)
Penguins
-1 (+110) -150 < 6 (-120)
